Matthew Kieran is the Professor of Philosophy and the Arts at the University of Leeds and was nominated for the THES Young Academic of the Year Awards in 2005.

 

He was awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for 2012 - 2013 to start work on a much longer term project on creativity and was recently elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

 

Matthew's broader interests range over creativity, art, psychology and ethics. He is the author of many articles and books such as Revealing Art (2005) which has been translated into various languages including Chinese and Korean. 

 

He has given the invited public lecture at the National Icelandic Visual Arts Awards, the Charles Parodi Lecture, International Miami Basel Arts Fair, run workshops at Tate Britain, spoken at festivals and appeared on television and radio.

 

Matthew grew up in England and Jamaica and presently lives in Leeds and East London.
